A barcode is used to get a lot of information about a product : name of product, reference of price, date of manufacture … Thanks to a simple scan, it’s possible to know all historique of product in question
The barcodes are represented by an ensemble of numbers and bars that are coded in order to correspond at a numeric data. Barcodes can appear in various formats, the ultimate goal is that the barcode obtained is unique and can differentiate one product from another.
BARCODES LABELS
According to your need, barcodes can take different forms : a gencode can simply appear in the angle of label (as it’s le cas for most of product marketed) or, they can occupy the entire sticker. You can opt for barcode labels in rolls or sheets depending on what you want to use them for.
WHY USE A BARCODE ON A LABEL?
Gencod are generally used for two reasons : the most reason is that it gets to rescence all information of a product when it’s scanned, but it can also be used for identification of a product in the entrepot or an inventory for exemple. It’s why this little code is completely indispensable in the tarde or in the industrial sector. the barcodes are used for control the stocks and facilitate the inventory, for provide all informations about a product given and identificate in some seconds, but too for get the traceability of products at time to ship for example.
BARCODES VS. QR-CODES
Do you often wonder what is the difference between a barcode and a QR code? In reality, it is only a question of size! Indeed, a gencod is represented in one dimension with alternating bars more or less spaced from each other. The QR-code is illustrated in two dimensions in vector form regrouping small squares.
WHAT POINT TO CHECK WHEN A GENCOD APPEARS ON THE LABEL ?
When you decide to include a barcode on your label, you must look at add a white support (if you choose a transparent paper) a white support that will be positioned under the barcode so that the latter is more readable and stands out more. If your paper is naturally white, it's important to leave the space dedicated to the barcode white and not put color blocks there.
You must therefore be careful to use a relatively readable font and not to insert a barcode that is too minimalistic which would result in thin bars that would be difficult to print.
In order to help you evaluate the quality of your gencode, you can use a controller of barcode which will analyze your barcode and and list it between categories from A to Z
The closer you get to an “A” rating, the better in terms of readability and printability.
